Well im going to be buying 2 new systems in the next 2-4 months for MB these are budget, and each one has tasks: 2GB Version = CSS Game Servers 1GB Version= Web / MySQL / FTP / IRC Servers Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, 2.2ghz 2GB DDR2 Super*Talent /w Heatspeaders 160GB Western Digital SATA HDD ASUS P5L-VM PIONEER DVD-/+RW 18X SATA Niako G5 Black Case Generic 500Watt PSU Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, 2.2ghz 1GB DDR2 Super*Talent /w Heatspeaders 160GB Western Digital SATA HDD ASUS P5L-VM PIONEER DVD-/+RW 18X SATA Niako G5 Black Case Generic 500Watt PSU $973 for both. My Web/IRC is currently Intel Pentium 3, 800mhz 320MB Ram 10GB HDD
You should put the webserver and game server on the same box, it's alot cheaper that way and you don't have to pay for 2 boxes. Also, you should keep the webserver on the box your using now. The main FaceWAN webserver is on a 400MHz PII running linux and it runs with no lag or overloading.
The P3 has problems, and the HD just dies for hours then works again. And im probly going to be running more CSS servers then 1 on the box. Also on the Web-Server is: MySQL, FTP and IRC Servers
My 400MHz box runs web, IRC, FTP, SSH, MySQL, File Sharing, other various networking things and a Counter-Strike 1.6 server.
Or you are just a rich bastard who buys a separate completely unneeded Core 2 Duo box for JUST a web server and an IRC server (which WILL use less than 1% of CPU power at all times). It is seriously fucking retarded to do that my friend, especially because I know your "clan" thing is going to fucking fail.
