If you want to go to a school for programming, go to Champlain college in Burlington, Vermont! They offer game programming, and it's where I'm going for animation.

Flareon, I'm doing programming at college and it's not easy at all. (duh)
It takes a long time to get used to, and make, anything.
One little mistake and it has a go at you like you've just slapped it's sister.
If you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing, you can completely balls it up.
You have to be really dedicated to it if you want to do anything worthwhile in it, and I'd recommend if you're doing a mod or something big, to team up with someone else, otherwise, all your free time will be taken up doing it.
So, are you really dedicated enough:confused:

well the thing is that i just wanna know something about it i'm not planning anything yet.. anyways i am going to do something with computers cuz thats the only thing i really can do just a bit of.. all i'm asking for is like getting to know the area called programming.. but i dont know where to start

tutorials for lua scripting could be great.. but not too advanced.. something like a noobie guide..

The real thing that you need, is someone to leech off of, possibly drain them to the point where they want to hit you with a god damn shovel.

yeah you might be right but.. i dont really know who would want to do that.. and i'd probally need to have it as text " just so it would get in right .. i might be good at english but sometimes its not easy for me to understand when ppl talk with accent"
and still who would have time to put all that advanced shit down in text that even my dog would be able to understand .. i dont see i got any other chances then to find tutorials on google or something

hmm this looks allmost the same as Warcraft 3 frozen throne triggers =O hey if that allmost the same then i might be able to understand it
yay.. its much like eachother i think making trigger and this..

    here is an example :

    Trigger 1.
    Events:
Unit - A unit owend by Player 1 (Red) is attacked

    Conditions:
((Triggering player) controller) Equal to Computer

    Actions:
    Unit - Explode (triggering unit)

you can figure what this trigger does right? boom

I think it's importnat to decided what kind of programming you want to learn too... if lua, don't bother trying to learn for gmod 9 as there aren't so many scripts to learn off of anymore, as Chicken informed me.

I am pretty much the only source of 9 lua left being actively programmed.

hmm ok but what else could i try to learn of programming whats easy to work in or work with .. i just want to learn basics of scripting and programming .. i'm not saying i wanna invent a new game or anything .. i just wanna be able to make something something usefull to idk what but just something simple to start off..

you cant just start as a pro, you have to learn it from the start.

but where to start programming is a big world for those new to it

If you start with something like C/C++ then you will get a good grasp of how programming is structured, I started out with QBASIC/Visual Basic and then went to coding PHP.

When I was first introduced to scripting, my friend had told me to use Python as my basic scripting tools. It will run on window, Linux, and Mac.
