Despite the issues of SecuROM and problems with Windows Vista, this game is so good. The graphics are really well done and the water effects are insane.
If u dont know if to buy it download a trial...type bioshock demo and go to the third or forth link... the game is amazing due the fact that the character NPC etc have no set commands but rather they are independent and can do anything they wish to do like roam around... The water is VERY detailed and seems like a horror/sci-fi game. U start of in the underwater hotelish place called Raptor. Looks pretty abandoned exept for the mutated stalkers or something which can yell and give u a fright 1.69 GB demo.... WAITWAIT......ATTENSION.......DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS DEMO IF U HAVE WINDOW VISTA....U will find that it is a waste of time...since the demo dislikes vista
I think I'm nearing the end of the game, as well as my amount of ammo. Not a good idea to play the game with the lights out, my cat jumped up on my desk and gave me a heart attack. Anybody else think that this game is movie worthy? Yea, its a game, but its a whole new thing. They already made movies based on games dealing with zombies, and futuristic stuff, but they went a whole new way with building a new Atlantis gone bad.
I beat the game in about 12hrs, it's cool ending if you decide to rescue the little sisters, and the storyline twists so much, it's a really fast paced game.
I'm reasonably sure we have spoiler tags, omfg. Please use them. Or give enough room that people can skip over it easier, instead of it being right there. That said, I'd like to get this game. I've also recently kinda gotten into thriller/scare games (Penumbra, for example), and this game has been reported as having a top-notch story/story telling method for as long as I've read about it. (Actually, come to think, Penumbra uses the same basic method: Notes scattered around) And that's an awfully large demo. I think I'll not download it, and just buy the game when I have a chance/money/not saving for Orange Box.
There is a quick fix in Vista for the game crashing out when you start it, you just add "-dx9" in the launch options for the game. This forces the game to use DirectX 9, as DirectX10 support is not 100% and is currently a hit or miss with certain graphics cards. I had other problems like the game crashing when I used certain items, so I just booted back into Windows XP to play the game.
